IG Report validates serious concerns about VA Hospitals

August 16, 2016

A Veterans Affairs investigation released last week revealed that the St. Cloud Minnesota VA inflated the numbers of patients it saw as well as the number of doctors it had on staff. The report also found that more than 2,300 vets were assigned to providers who no longer worked at VA facilities in Iowa City, Iowa and Black Hills, South Dakota to make caseloads for primary care doctors appear artificially low. Although the VA claims these errors did not negatively impact the care vets received, the report has been met with an outcry for those involved to be held responsible.  A statement from Minnesota legislators said: “Misrepresenting panel sizes is completely unacceptable and a serious breach of the public trust.”
