A recent study established a link between birth complications, such as lack of oxygen during birth, to an increased risk of autism. The chief science officer at the Autism Science Foundation said the study “adds to a growing literature” linking obstetrical complications to autism.” This study also may allow for earlier diagnosis and intervention in at-risk babies which can result in better long-term functioning.
