IMPROVEMENTS IN VA BACKLOG BUT MUCH MORE IS NEEDED

August 4, 2016

The VA healthcare waiting list scandal of 2014 which led to development of The Veterans Choice Program allowing eligible veterans to see private doctors, did not do enough to resolve the care backlog as veterans still have to call the VA to get approval to choose a private doctor. Further, although there has been a 90% reduction in the backlog for benefits decisions, it has resulted in a new backlog for veterans who appeal the initial benefits decision.   There are currently over 450,000 appeals pending and the average wait time for a decision is three years.  Accordingly, despite improvements in the care provided to our veterans there is much more work to be done.  If you suffered an injury or someone you loved died due to medical malpractice at a military or VA hospital, we can help.  Call us 24/7 at 1-877-695-8757, e-mail us at LawHelp@militarymedicalmalpractice.com or fill out the short form on the right side of this page.
