Birth injuries two times higher at military hospitals

January 3, 2016

Giving birth in a military hospital is twice as likely to result in a birth injury than when giving birth at a comparable civilian hospital, according to a recent report.   In addition, mothers were significantly more likely to suffer a hemorrhage (serious bleeding) after birth in a military hospital than at civilian hospitals and doctors using forceps caused more injuries to mothers delivering at military hospitals.

Most significantly, nearly five in every 1,000 babies born at military hospitals suffered some kind of birth trauma. This is double the national average for babies injured during birth at comparable civilian hospitals.

If your baby suffered a traumatic birth injury or lack of oxygen at birth causing brain damage at a military hospital you need a lawyer.  If you suffered a serious post-partum hemorrhage (uncontrolled bleeding after childbirth)or were damaged when a doctor used forceps, you need a lawyer.  It is very important to have an attorney experienced in handling military birth injury cases at all Army, Navy and Air Force hospitals in any state and overseas to make sure your rights are protected and that your baby gets the compensation he or she needs to maximize the quality of life.  We can help.
